Today we held the launch of the strategic plan of the association of people living with HIV / AIDS in Honduras (ASONAPVSIDAH).
This organization brings together and represents people living with HIV / AIDS in the country, also leads processes of advocacy and social audit nationally and internationally to monitor and professionalize the processes and projects working on improving quality of life of persons infected.
Miriam Paz, Department of Population Risks said that this effort that the association has done is very important for patients to have an effective and timely response and implementation of appropriate strategies to enable them to better living conditions.
Kellie Stewart, representing the Agency for Cooperation in the United States of America (USAID), said the response of HIV in this country and the world requires a civil society awareness and capacity in the authorities to join this response and generate important changes and mobilizations.
It is important for energy resources and the strategies developed by civil society are focused on long-term successful strategies to generate more effective responses to HIV / AIDS said Stewart.
For its part, the president of the organization ASONAPVSIDAH, Justa Suazo thanked on behalf of people living with HIV / AIDS by Health Minister Arturo Bendaña for the assistance provided through the secretary of health and has urged the means of international cooperation and government.
In April 2009 in response to a request for ASONAPVSIDA, USAID in Honduras began its technical assistance to improve home visiting services and support groups, service delivery to the population through the global fund as a product of hard work has been accomplished the third strategic plan and a professional diagnosis that identifies the strengths of services.
